Business Problem
A trusted print publisher had no digital foothold — and no way to reach kids where they already learn.
One app had to serve a 13-year age gap. A 4-year-old and a 15-year-old cannot use the same interface.
Kids' attention spans are short; teachers said holding focus on a single activity was their biggest daily battle.
Parents wanted learning that was fun — but with real limits: screen time, content level, safety controls.
Teachers and schools tracked progress through emails, circulars and scattered messaging apps. No single view.
The commercial ask: Turn a book catalogue into a recurring revenue product without diluting the Parragon brand.
Design Impact
Age-tiered design language. Little Explorers get a tactile, pop-up-book world; Tech Savvy Teens get a sleek, futuristic UI — one product, two emotional registers.
One library, five formats. E-books, audiobooks, podcasts, read-alongs and interactive games unified under a single age-filtered content model.
Learning that loops into play. Finishing a story unlocks a matching game — reading and gaming stitched into one continuous flow instead of two separate apps.
Gamification with intent. Levels, badges, rewards, challenges, leaderboards and a progress dashboard, tuned by age rather than bolted on.
Parents get visibility, not guesswork. A clear view of activity, levels cleared and achievements earned — plus time and content controls.
Teachers get a class in one screen. Individual reports, class-wide performance and activity logs, replacing circulars and inbox threads.
Motion as comprehension. Animation used to hold attention and explain concepts — age-appropriate, never decorative.
Brand carried forward. Parragon's familiar visual equity re-expressed digitally, so recognition and parental trust transferred intact.
Research-anchored decisions. Teacher, school-management and parent interviews drove feature prioritisation before a single screen was designed.
